When Kelly Matlock collapses at work, the disillusioned and burned out chef retreats to her sister Jillian's house in Virgin River to rest. Working in her sister's garden and cooking with her heirloom vegetables is wonderful, but Virgin River is a far cry from San Francisco and her life in the city.
